Mark your calendars!!
This is the first event of its kind in Durham Region devoted to needs of people with disabilities in the Durham Region. It is organized by the chairs of the nine Accessibility Advisory Committees in Durham Region (Durham, Clarington, Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock) with support of each of the accessibility coordinators for each AAC and financial support by each of the corresponding regional, town, city or municipal councils.
Date: Thursday, June 17, 2010
Time: 10 am – 8 pm - Open to the general public. Stay as long as you want.
Where: Recreation and Wellness Centre at Durham College.
What: There will be vendor displays of services, equipment and technology of use to people with disabilities, seniors, and their caregivers. All members of general public are invited as well, especially those who anticipate becoming a caregiver in the future.
A number of special guests and presenters have invited appearing through out the day. Here is the schedule for the day.
- 10:30 am Opening Remarks, Regional Chair, Roger Anderson
- 10:45 am Presentation by Robert Pio Hajjar, Founder of Ideal-Way
- 11:30 am Presentation by Paul Rosen, Paralympic Gold Medallist & Sledge Hockey Goalie
- 1:00 pm Dr. Mark Nagler, Disability Expert and Motivational Speaker
- 3:00 pm Accessibility Legislation, Accessibility Experts
- 6:00 pm Justin Hines Performance
- ALL DAY Accessibility Marketplace

The Recreation and Wellness Centre (its basically a great big gymnasium) is the labelled (G) on the map.
Just run your mouse of the capital letter G on the map. The map can be moved like a Google map to show location of nearby roads and parking. There will be signs from showing they way to the expo site. There will be volunteers acting as guides both outside and inside.
